Peggy Leavitt (2011-2015)
Council Member Peggy Leavitt was elected to the Boulder City Council in June 2011. Prior to that time he was active in the community, with the Red Mountain Music Company and arts organizations. She was born and raised in Wyoming and graduated from the University of Wyoming. After moving to Las Vegas in 1970, she pursued a career in social work and within a few years was hired at the Southern Nevada Children's Home in Boulder City. After having worked there for a number years, she was appointed by the Governor to the position of Superintendent. When the Children's Home was closed due to budget cuts, she was hired in a management position at Child Haven where she was employed until she retired in 2002. She is married and has 4 sons and 10 grandchildren, most of whom live in Boulder City.
Council member Leavitt currently serves as the City Council representative of the Boulder City Friends of the Arts and the Southern Nevada Criminal Justice Advisory Council. She is also serving as a member of the Nevada League of Cities Board of Directors and on the Nevada League of Cities Legislative Committee, as well as a representative to the Workforce Connections Council. She is also serving as an alternate board member of the Southern Nevada Health District.
