Boulder City Police Department's Public Safety Communication Division is located in the Boulder City Police Department and is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The Division receives telephone calls on two, 9-1-1 lines and four non-emergency lines. It is the first place citizens call when a power outage occurs or about the dust conditions on U.S. Highway 95. Cell phone callers trying to reach 9-1-1 will usually get either Metro or Henderson Police Department. These calls can then be transferred to Boulder City 9-1-1.
For information on Hoover Dam traffic or types of vehicles allowed over the dam, please contact 888-248-1259.
The Communication Division dispatches on one police radio channel and one fire radio channel. A second police radio channel is available for circumstances requiring a high level of non-emergency radio transmissions. The Division also monitors one public works channel evenings and weekends. A typical Police Department shift can generate an average of 220+ radio transmissions.
The Communication DivisionMembers are Emergency Medical Dispatch certified. The use of protocol cards ensures that each medical emergency receives the same level of expertise when the 9-1-1 line is answered, the initial point of contact. The dispatchers are able to give vital information to the Rescue personnel responding and can guide the caller in basic care of the patient prior to Rescue's arrival.
The Communication/Records Divisionis located at the entry point of the Police Department. Records staff provides information, copies of reports and DMV registration.
The Records staff can also process child care cards and special work cards such as Lend-A-Hand on Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., or by appointment on other weekdays.
Boulder City citizens or those who work in Boulder City can also have their fingerprints taken for special licensing on Tuesday and Thursday 8am - 5pm.
The Communication Divisionallows any person calling from Boulder City dialing 3-1-1 to reach the non-emergency line at the Police Department. This service was put in place to ease the non-emergency calls to 9-1-1. However, the citizens of Boulder City know that they can pick up the phone, dial either 9-1-1 or 3-1-1, and have a reasonable expectation that their call will be answered within two rings, providing the level of service they have come to expect. If using a cell phone, dial 293-9224 to reach the Boulder City Police.
