The Public Works Department of the City of Boulder City manages all aspects of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for the City of Boulder City and provides development services for all private construction projects. We maintain top quality parks, streets, flood control facilities, buildings, water distribution system, sewer collection and treatment facilities.  In addition, the Public Works Department is responsible for managing numerous other City items, including the municipal cemetery, refuge collection and disposal, and many of the City’s agreements with local business operations such as gravel pits and power plants.   The Public Works Department professionally represents Boulder City at the Southern Nevada Water Authority meetings, Regional Transportation Commission meetings, and Flood Control District meetings.

Message from the Director:

Way to go Landscape Crew!!    Recently the Public Works Landscape Division reconstructed the landscaping in the island on Arizona Street by City Hall.  The project consisted of removing the old landscaping, grading and reconstructing the irrigation system.  Numerous decorative plants were added and surrounded by mulch and landscape rocks.

This multi-day project involved assistance from nearly the entire landscape crew and a little help from an operator from the Street Division.   Through teamwork, this project turned out beautifully.

I guess I should back up and start from the beginning.   A few weeks ago, I met on site with the Public Works Superintendent Don Donahue and the Landscape Supervisor Sergio Solis-Sauri.  When they asked me what I had in mind for a design or plant pallet, I simply replied, ‘no thorns”.  Well, with very little to go on, they charged forward and worked with their staff to develop what you see below.

Great job ladies and gentlemen!
