He was also honored by the United States Congress by having his accomplishments and service entered into the Congressional Record. Mike created the Youth Council Program where 4th graders and high school seniors appoint and elect their own city council and staff, come to City Hall and actually hold their own council meeting with their own agendas. Mike has been teaching this program since 1999. He is a Two-Time Honoree of the National Jr. Honor Society and a two–time winner of the ELKS “Distinguished Citizenship of the Year” Award for his contributions and service to our community. In 2002 Mike created the Boulder City Tourism Commission which partnered with the LVCVA to help promote Boulder City, its business community and its tourism attractions to visitors locally and abroad. “A World Away for a Day” is the motto that is leading the way as Boulder City markets it small town charm, historic culture, and its exciting and growing niche as the “Outdoor Recreation Mecca of Southern Nevada.” For more information, please go to www.visitbouldercity.com. |
