Warren Harhay is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He is a graduate of Cleveland State University, Kent State University and Wilmington National University. He was able to fill the four year curriculum with seven years of work experience as a Field Service Engineer with Muzak, as a Broadcast Engineer at stations WERE, WHK, WZAK , WMMS, and as Service Manager for Olson Electronics.
Upon graduation from Cleveland State he became the Electronics and Mathematics Instructor at Normandy High in Parma, Ohio. During the energy crisis of the mid 1970’s he founded Electric Vehicle Associates and later became the founder and CEO of EVA Chloride Electrobus/Electrovan. He was awarded a US Patent for Electric Automobile Drive System. EVA became the largest manufacturer of fully compliant electric automobiles in the United States. One of these vehicles was driven by the Secretary of Energy in President Jimmy Carter’s inaugural parade.
In 1982 he became the CEO of Lektramotors of Las Vegas. Nevada. He then moved his young family to Boulder City, Nevada where he founded Emerging Ventures and Arts, a business and computer systems consulting company. As a result of one of his contracts he became the owner of Majestic Marble which manufactured cultured marble products for new homes, apartment and hotel construction. Upon sale of this business he then founded LaserFacts which developed a system to retrieve mainframe data via CD-Rom on personal computers. This company was acquired by Western Acceptance Corporation where he became the director of Management Information Systems.
In the late 1990’s he along with his sons Mitchell and Marshall founded Access Nevada in Boulder City which quickly became the largest independent Internet provider is Southern Nevada. Upon sale of Access Nevada to a national provider he and his sons founded Aspireworks Inc. which continues as a premier supplier of custom Internet Services.
Mr. Harhay returned from retirement to take a position as Senior Electronics Engineer at Boulder City’s own Rocky Research where his work resulted in the award of additional US Patents for Electronic control systems as well as the development of a number of innovative products for the US Military and HVAC industry.
Mr. Harhay has served as a member of the White House Battery Advisory Council and was a past Director Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. As a longtime Amateur Radio Operator (K8NPI) he has been an Official Observer of the American Radio Relay League. He also acted as a volunteer in the American Red Cross Disaster Services and was a member of the Salvation Army advisory board.
Mr. Harhay has been happily married to his wife Marcia Harhay since 1967. They have three sons Matthew, Marshall and Mitchell and celebrate their four grandchildren, Annison, Andy, Lilly and Brad.
Warren is a longtime member of Rotary International originally in Cleveland, Ohio. He received a Paul Harris fellowship while member of the Las Vegas SW club. He has served as Past President of the Boulder City Sunrise Rotary Club during Rotary’s Centennial year. He continues as a proud member of our local club to this day.
Educator, innovator, scientist, inventor, businessman, and community activist Warren Harhay now respectfully seeks to apply his unique and diverse skill set to the position of Boulder City Councilman.
