[ARCHIVED] BCPD Receives Grant for "Joining Forces"

BCPD Cycle

Boulder City Police Department received a grant in the amount of $46,600 from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety to support law enforcement’s participation in the Joining Forces traffic safety campaigns during the coming year.

Joining Forces is a high visibility, multi-jurisdiction statewide effort to increase safety on Nevada’s roads by increasing enforcement and awareness of traffic laws. The goal is to reduce crashes and save lives by focusing on impaired driving, distracted driving, seat belt use, speed, and pedestrian safety.

Thanks to this grant award, Boulder City Police Department will be able to team up with other area jurisdictions for a number of Joining Forces events through September 30, 2020. “For the past thirteen years the Police Department has participated in the Joining Forces Program,” said Boulder City Police Chief Tim Shea. “This multi-jurisdictional traffic enforcement program has specific goals of reducing injuries and deaths on the roadways within the State of Nevada. This grant amount will fund our participation by providing the financial resources necessary to pay for officer overtime whenever our personnel are involved in ‘Joining Forces’ traffic enforcement activities.”

Law enforcement personnel will continue to enforce traffic safety laws year-round as part of their commitment to reduce crashes and save lives. Whether you are a driver, a passenger, or a pedestrian, the Boulder City Police Department reminds everyone to make safety on our roadways a top priority.
