City Welcomes New Fire Chief

Fire Chief William Gray

BOULDER CITY – After an extensive national search, Boulder City is excited to announce a new Fire Chief. William Gray has more than 25 years’ experience in fire service. He has served as a firefighter, fire medic, emergency medical officer, training officer, operations captain, and as an assistant fire chief. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Alabama. His first day on the job is today, January 27, 2020.

As Assistant Fire Chief for the Pueblo Fire Department (Colorado), he led and managed ten fire stations, served as incident commander for major incidents, served as the special operations chief, and was a member of the department command staff. He also served as the dispatch liaison with the Pueblo Police Department Communication Center and led the diversity recruitment team.

“I believe Chief Gray will help Boulder City better achieve one of the strategic goals set in 2018, to “Sustain a High Level of Public Safety Services,” said Al Noyola, City Manager of Boulder City. “Of particular interest and value is his experience as a Peer Team Leader for the Commission for Fire Accreditation International, whereby he assisted in evaluation of fire departments of different sizes and compositions nationally and internationally.”

“Boulder City Fire Department offers a great environment to train the next generations of medics and firefighters and to begin developing the future fire service leaders for the City,” said Chief Gray. “I look forward to bringing new ideas and processes to a department and community so rich in heritage and history.”

“I would like to thank Steve Walton for his efforts in guiding the search and leading the department over the past six months,” added Noyola. “He has given us great leadership as we engaged in this search and is working to ease the transition, providing Chief Gray with valuable insight and advice by staying on as an advisor for the next several weeks.”
