[ARCHIVED] City to Hold Regular Council Meeting April 14 Via Live Stream

City Hall Spring 2020

The City of Boulder City Clerk’s Office and City IT staffs have been working to develop a sensible, simple way to continue to hold Council meetings. Council was unable to hold one regular City Council meeting (March 24, 2020)  and several committee and commission meetings have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Governor Steve Sisolak directive regarding public gatherings.

“Our goal is to avoid some of the issues other communities have experienced, such as applications crashing during meetings, asking users to download programs and dealing with hackers,” said Lorene Krumm, City Clerk. “We looked at several options and determined a solution that utilizes existing equipment and should be easy for everyone to use.”

The April 14, 2020 meeting will be carried live via the internet using the City’s website: www.bcnv.org/191/City-Council-Meeting-Live-Stream-Video. Council will be in attendance in the Council Chamber but not all on the dais: they would sit at least six feet apart. Those who want to comment will be able to do so several ways:

  • PREFERRED METHOD: Submit the via the online public comment form at www.bcnv.org/council - comments will be read into the public record.
  • Call and leave a message at 702.293.9210 – comments will be played into the public record.
  • Call City Hall’s Council Chambers Conference line at 702.589.9629 during the comment portion of the meeting to speak live.

City Hall remains closed to the public through April 30, so residents are not allowed to be in Council Chambers. For residents who do not have access to a computer, the Smith Building (700 Wyoming Street) will be open to the first nine individuals who arrive. They will be required to sit six feet apart and can only comment by using their personal cell phone to call into the meeting. Meetings are recorded viewing later via On-Demand, YouTube and BCTV.

“The work of the City is critical to moving us forward beyond this pandemic,” said Mayor Kiernan McManus. “Prioritizing safety has been the primary objective of staff since the pandemic started. This streaming solution - paired with opportunities to comment online or over the phone - should work well for our residents.”
