BOULDER CITY - One of Southern Nevada’s favorite traditions is celebrating a big milestone: Tuesday, July 4, 2022 is the 75th annual Damboree Parade and Fireworks Celebration in Boulder City! The parade Grand Marshal for 2023 is the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home, a fitting salute to the men and women who served our nation.

As Grand Marshal, the veterans will be one of the first groups on the parade route. “We have active duty veterans coming from Nellis Air Force Base to help us get our bus and van decorated,” said Amanda Kehrer, coordinator for the Veterans Home. “Our residents and staff are thrilled to be recognized in such a public way, especially on a day that carries so much importance to our veterans and citizens alike.”

Events include:

  • Pancake Breakfast: The Rotary Club of Boulder City will hold their annual Pancake Breakfast in Bicentennial Park, 1100 Colorado St. from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m.
  • Damboree Parade: The parade starts at 9:00 a.m. with the Boulder City Veterans’ Flying Group flyover down Nevada Way. The route begins at Colorado Street and continues south on Nevada Way; turns left on 5th Street and finishes in Broadbent Memorial Park. WATER TRUCKS AND WATER BALLOONS ARE PROHIBITED. Various organizations and vendors will be selling food and beverages in Broadbent Park. The Parade Lineup is here.
  • Coin Toss: The Boulder City Pool hosts the Coin Toss starting at 11 a.m. Entry is free to children under 18 years of age. Parents or guardians must fill out a release of liability form for the child to enter the pool without them. Children eight years or younger must have someone 14 years or older with them at the pool. If the child under eight years old is a non-swimmer, the person older than 14 must be in the water with them within arm’s length.
  • Festivities and Fireworks: The fun will continue at Veteran's Memorial Park, 1650 Buchanan Blvd. from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.   Entry is $20 per vehicle. Food, music and games will be available. The fireworks show begins at 9 p.m.

City Council Resolution 6124 closes the Eldorado Valley Dry Lake Bed Recreation Area every year from July 3 until July 5.  “Large crowds, illegal fireworks and waste had been discarded on the Dry Lake Bed in the past,” said City Manager Taylour Tedder. “Our Police keep watch for trespassing or other illegal activity to keep the area clean and safe.”
