Boulder City received two checks totaling $1,346,743.60 from an anonymous donor, specifically for the “Community Pool” located in Broadbent Park. The donation was unsolicited and the donor wanted to remain anonymous.
City staff will recommend that Council accept the donation during the June 10 City Council meeting. (The meeting will be held on Monday, June 10, since June 11 is Election Day.)
“I’m constantly out beating the bushes for alternative funding sources, and staff has been directed by Council to seek those out as well,” said Mayor Rod Woodbury, referring to Resolution 6907. “So, we couldn’t be more thrilled to receive this gracious gift from a true friend of Boulder City. I would like to personally thank the donor and family members for supporting this wonderful community asset of ours.”
The funds will be set aside in an account specifically for the Aquatic Facility. The donation happens as voters are considering two ballot measures for a new Aquatic Facility. The current pool is nearly forty years old and in need of costly repairs on a regular basis.
