[ARCHIVED] Fire Department Responders, K-9 to Assist in Texas Flooding Operations

Nevada Urban Search and Rescue Task Force group - 7.8.2025

BOULDER CITY - Three firefighters and one K-9 arrived in Texas this morning (July 9) with other Clark County emergency responsers to assist with search and rescue/recovery operations in Kerr County, where 120 people died in severe flooding in the past week. They are working with Nevada's only Urban Search & Rescue team, "Nevada Task Force 1" (NV-TF1).

The Boulder City first responders are part of a 47-person team that includes paramedics, communications specialists, a structural engineers, logistics technicians and a medical doctor and four K-9s. From the Clark County FIre Department:

"The Clark County Fire Department is the sponsoring agency for NV-TF1. The team is comprised of members from the Clark County Fire Department, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, Henderson Fire Department, North Las Vegas Fire Department, and Boulder City Fire Department, as well as members from multiple other disciplines. Task force teams are deployed by the Federal Emegency Management Agency (FEMA) to respond to emergencies across the United States. The team received mobilization orders this afternoon from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and is expected to arrive in San Antonio, Texas, by Wednesday evening for assignment in Kerr County where catastrophic flooding occurred over July 4th weekend. FEMA pays the costs associated with task force deployments."

The task force’s caravan to Texas includes boats, pickup trucks, 18-wheelers and various support vehicles loaded with gear and equipment.
